CBS announces subscription service

I love this idea and it was discussed in class this morning. If this pans out, I hope other networks follow suit. I’m very interested in the classic television shows that a subscriber might have access to. PBS should think about doing this!

Exploring New Media

CBS has announced a new subscription service that will allow users to live-stream content and view archived shows. The service, called CBS All Access, costs $5.99 per month.

Unlike other similar services (WatchESPN, etc.), a cable subscription is not required to join the service.

For now, the live stream will only be available in the large markets where CBS owns its affiliates. CBS has also said that NFL programming is not part of All Access due to the current contract with the NFL.
